My Students

The students in my classrooms all come from different backgrounds, family dynamics, socioeconomic statuses, religions, and belief systems. Some have never known hunger, and others don't know where their next meal will come from. Some get home and take care of younger brothers and sisters after school. Some have stay at home mom's that are there to help with homework when they get home. Some have parents that work two and three jobs to make sure their needs are met. Some have computers at home. Others are homeless. Some are the first English speakers in their families. However, my students all have one thing in common--they come to school each day, bright eyed, and ready to learn. I draw inspiration from their enthusiasm to tackle each day, no matter what other circumstances they are dealing with.

My Project

We all use technology every day in our lives. Our children love using technology to learn, and need to have those opportunities so that they are ready to be a part of the technological world we live in. Unfortunately, the demand for technology in schools and the supply of money to purchase these learning tools is askew. However, through Donors Choose, I have been able to outfit our classroom with technology learning tools. These Chromebooks will be used to play review games on Kahoot, do research, play math games to enrich our math curriculum, provide aid in reading and comprehension through RAZ kids, and much, much more. Beyond that, these computers will give my children the chance to learn the basic computer skills needed to be successful in school, and in life.
