This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are preparing our students at a young age to be leaders at home, school and in their community. My students come from low-income families. Some of my parents work more than one job just to meet basic needs. We do not ask for anything but that their students come ready to learn. I have an incredible love of learning and try to instill that love in my students.
They may not be able to control everything in life, but they can escape into learning and being hands-on in their education.
In our classroom, we are constantly growing and evolving. We are striving to do our best, taking chances, making mistakes and learning!
My Project
We are looking to expand our makerspace in our classroom. Makedo is a way for my students to let their imaginations run wild and bring their ideas to life. Using cardboard and makedo connects students can create anything they can dream up. What is nice is that Makedo screws are reuseable so if students make a mistake they can fix it.
Using growth mindset students can challenge themselves to see what they can create, make mistakes and learn from their errors.
We are also teaching our students about recycling and reusing materials. Makedo helps to reinforce the idea of recycling and reusing our materials. We can make a difference in the world one step at a time. When first graders begin critical thinking early on they can grow up to change the world.
