Make Fun Fridays More Exciting with Games Requiring Movement
Help me give my students Xbox One with Kinect, games that require movement such as Just Dance, Shape Up, Zumba Fitness, and other racing and sports games for our celebrations and rewards parties.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students' demographic and socioeconomic status consists of 95% free priced lunch as our school is a Title I school. The majority of my students are of low socioeconomic background and, therefore, face many challenges on a daily basis such as having adequate housing, proper nutrition, and basic needs being met. Unfortunately, the school is not always able to provide all essential or desired supplies for each student.
While my students face negative challenges, they still arrive nearly each day with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
That, in turn, motivates me even more. They know that I care about them and their well-being and education. Therefore, they work hard to their up most potential. As a result, our school has remained in the top 5% in the state for several years. This alone demonstrates our school's eagerness to succeed.
My Project
"Why don't we ever do anything fun?" Students ask this many times throughout their lives. I'm sure you did too! I asked them how we could make our reward times a more fun experience. Some recommended an Xbox, but I told them you can only play 1 or 2 people. They said that you can actually play with 4 people in sports and racing games. One student also said with a Kinect, students can get exercise when playing many games.
My students love NBA basketball, so we can use it not only for rewards on Fun Fridays but also record stats from the game and convert fractions into percentages of free throws, field goals, and three pointers.
The students also found dance games, racing games and fitness exercise games that must be played with the Kinect, which is a visual sensor that tracks movement. That is why we need the exercise mats. The tile floors are too hard to run in place or jump on, so these extra cushioned mats will be placed in front of the game so students can play. You can provide a 21st century edition to our Fun Fridays with a gaming station. Make it happen!
