I teach students with Autism in a special school with no exposure to the general education population. They have severe behavioral, emotional, and academic deficiencies that are not being addressed in a regular special education environment. These students are mostly nonverbal and need consistent guidance in order to achieve their goals.
Despite their challenges, these students are able to show progress with their skills and goals that I as a teacher, would like for them to continue especially during this very challenging times.
My Project
The materials are for organizing their reinforcers and for cleaning up which will be part of their daily routine.
The students will be taught where to keep their reinforcers such as toys and books as well as clean up after they have eaten their breakfast and lunch.
The vacuum is an easy and effective tool to teach the students to clean up their mess. I ordered 2 handheld vacuums to make cleaning faster and easier to take turns.
These activities are aligned with their IEP goals and will help them become more independent.
