This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from a poverty-stricken community. Many students can't afford instruments, therefore, Im trying to find ways to help. I see it in their eyes daily when I tell them that we are getting closer to playing instruments, but the problem will be sharing. At this point, I know that they will be grateful for anything because they want to be in band.
With your help, we can keep students off the streets and in band class daily.
Currently, the students are learning the basic foundation of music notation. We have five working horns in rotation between students. I'm asking for your help with purchasing six instruments to help us in class.
My Project
This project will provide trumpets and flutes for students that can't afford to rent or purchase one. Even though instruments are expensive, some instruments are better than none. I will have to rotate students until we get more donations or funds for the band program.
The program I'm trying to rebuild has not had a band in the past four years.
I have 70 students that are buying into the importance of having a musical program and understands that this may be an "out" that may very well lead to scholarships for college. Please support my project and students, thank you.
