This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My awesome students come from a high-poverty, rural area with high unemployment rates. They come with a willingness to work and learn. My school has a diverse ethnic community with a 100% free lunch program. Our school strives to promote a positive learning environment for all students. My second grade class enjoys being exposed to a variety of learning opportunities and materials in different classroom settings. It is always exciting to see their excitement when I introduce something new into the classroom.
My Project
These materials will allow my students the chance to be creative and expressive in developing classroom projects such as using modeling clay to make volcanoes, landforms, and on a rainy day, whatever! The scratch off paper is such a hit with children who are always amazed at the pop of color when they are creating masterpieces that reflect a story detail, a seasonal theme, or a fun picture to share. Regardless whether you call them cray-ons or crans, the Crayola classpack of crayons will be used throughout the year to draw, color, and complete projects, especially after the first few months of school when the crayon gremlin decides to snatch the popular colors from our desks.
