Make AG Culture Cool at School a Gardening Project
Help me give my students a sustainable project that will help them appreciate where their food comes from and experience the lifelong joy of playing in the dirt.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
The AG Culture Club needs help breaking ground for our new school community garden. My students love playing in the dirt and helping others. This club is not exclusive to athletes, advanced students, or those seeking to win a popularity contest. This club is for any student who enjoys hands-on experiences, working outdoors, playing in the dirt, laughing, and engaging. This is designed to be a sustainable project that has been structured so that if any committee members exit, the plan can still run efficiently so long as their are willing adults present. As a special education teacher I want all my students to explore finding their super powers and hidden talents. I have already collaborated with science, health, and special education teachers to implement agricultural and language lessons this school year. We are fighting the battle of engagement with the cell phones right now in the middle schools and need the communities support in this battle. I value technology but these trends have been at the cost of our kids well-rounded education. Help arm us with the tools to win! I promise to bring the excitement in the form of engaging lessons that they will remember forever!
