This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My curious, motivated, and inspiring students are eager to learn! My school qualifies for universal free breakfast and lunch due to over 80% free or reduced-price lunch status. Our students and their families live in an economically disadvantaged community. My second graders and I are part of a 4 classroom team. Most of our students were in first grade with us last year, and now we will loop together through second grade. Over the course of two years, my students and my teacher colleagues and I will have countless opportunities to learn from each other.
Our class motto is We never, never, never, never, never give up!
This means we all work together, ask questions, and think hard every day. My inspiring and inspired students appreciate the generosity of donors who help us obtain the resources we need.
My Project
Each month my students get a book to take home for their home library. In our two years together through first and second grade, we've discovered the joy of reading the same book together. As my students start thinking about moving on to third grade, I'd like to share a book with them which we have all enjoyed.
Part bedtime story, and part love letter, I Wish You More is the perfect book to express my very best wishes and deep teacher love for my students when we say goodbye.
I know it will be a treasured book because most of my students enjoyed it as a read aloud when I shared a library copy of the book with them during our first grade year.
