This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like not to able to easily express yourself as a child? My students will appreciate finding a new voice through music, a language in which any child can share his or her feelings.

My students come from all over Los Angeles county.

They represent a variety of ethnicities, cultures, and languages. These 9-10 year olds have come together in a school focused on meeting the needs of gifted and high ability children. They enjoy working collaboratively in fluid, small group settings.

My Project

When the children receive a classroom set of recorders, they will learn how to read musical notation to play a variety of songs. They will also create their own compositions using an instrument particularly suited to children: lightweight, portable, and user-friendly.

With funding an ever-increasing concern in public education today, many schools face the decision of which programs to cut and which to continue.

Through your generous donation to fund an in-classroom music program, you will enrich the experiences of these 5th graders in the arts.
