Make 7th Grade Less Stressful for the Upcoming 6th Graders

Help me give my students the opportunity to learn how to open combination locks prior to transitioning to the the 7th grade.

My Project

I would like to set up an activity station that will help make the first few days of transitioning to 7th grade less stressful for our transitioning 6th graders.

95% of our 234 students have never had to open a combination lock, let alone complete this task within a time limit in crowded hallways.

By allowing students to practice and build confidence without the time limit pressures, our students would feel less anxiety when trying to retrieve items from lockers upon arrival, between classes, and after school.

As teachers, we educate our students academically and also address their social and emotional needs while they are with us during the middle school years. We also prepare them to transition into junior high school.

Providing the opportunity to learn how to use combination locks would ease some of the transitioning anxiety that our students face as the enter junior high.
