The students in this rural Maine community have limited opportunities when it comes to education. Despite that, these local students are eager to learn. Since many students from this area come from low-income households, we hope to provide new Nonfiction titles from which students can gain an education.
Though our school lacks funding, local high school students are excited to explore the world through new and exciting Nonfiction books.
The library budget has been frozen for this year, and we aren't able to get new materials very often. Many students who struggle with learning are looking for engaging topics and unique material. We hope to offer works that will make students think critically about the topics they are introduced to.
My Project
We are asking for new nonfiction titles about the state of Maine for our library. Many of our nonfiction books are outdated or falling apart. We hope, with your donations, to gain some new materials that students can use for classroom assignments and projects.
New titles on Maine such as Open Season: True Stories of the Maine Warden Service and The Forts of Maine will make learning about their state fresh and exciting for our students.
We hope with new titles on the history of the state, students will be more enthusiastic about using the library for book resources in an effort to broaden their education.
Anyone at the school will be able to check out these new materials, both for their own reading pleasure, and as sources for school projects for years to come.
