My second grade class this year consists of 23 eager learners. I am in a suburban school that does not receive funding from other programs like Title I, making our school budget tight. Many of our supplies are donated by our PTA or purchased out of my own pocket.
Despite being in a suburban school, my students come from a variety of backgrounds.
While many come from privileged backgrounds, many do not. There are students with family serving in the military, students who are English language learners, and many more. We are a diverse group of learners. I hope to create an environment that my students can be actively engaged in and learn not only second grade standards but life skills, too!
My Project
My class is in need of a new mailbox system. My current one is falling apart since the interior dividers are made of cardboard. This system is super durable since it is made completely of wood.
The mailboxes will hold student work that needs to go home and will also serve as a way for students to practice personal responsibility.
Students will be responsible by checking their mailbox each day before going home to bring home any papers that have been graded.
This particular mailbox system will be great this year, too, since we are on a hybrid model and have to bring so many materials back and forth to school. The mailboxes are large enough that when we finish with a textbook in class, students can store them in their mailbox and remember to take them home at the end of the day! It will also save me time at the end of the day by being able to quick check that students have everything they need.
Thank you for considering a donation to my classroom!
