This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My middle school students come from varied backgrounds with a range of experiences and background knowledge. They are excited by challenges but struggle to find connections to their science lessons.

Science is about doing and my creative young students want to be actively investigating and working on projects.

This diverse group of students is inherently curious and they thrive with the opportunity to use their questions to drive their understanding.

Coming from varied backgrounds and having limited STEM supplies to engage in real-world experiences means that my students are learning to become true innovators.  They embrace the challenges and excitement that comes with STEM experiences and look forward to driving their own learning.

My Project

The microscopic world is so exciting for students to see. Being able to use the digital microscopes that plug into their Chromebooks will allow several students to view the specimens at the same time. This not only eliminates the concern about sharing equipment but also promotes conversations about the specimen in view.

Students will be able to work together on a plant dissection or soil analysis and experience the observations at the same time!

There won't be wait time for viewing the specimen and there will be no worry that the sample is moved out of view when switching roles. The digital scopes will give more students the opportunity to make observations in a class period which increases learning and engagement time.
