Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our low-income/high poverty school district where 100% of the students qualify for free lunch, my students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. To combat the many challenges they face, I am determined to provide and expose them to the technology and skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. They are curious, eager to learn, and desperate to please anyone who takes an interest! My students don't have technology at home so I'm looking to provide it in our classroom for them to experience. Keeping them engaged and learning new ways to incorporate technology is a goal.

My Project

My first graders study animals and their environments all year! Having a classroom aquarium with crystal clear views from all angles would give them first-hand experience. This large, spherical designed aquarium even magnifies fish for up-close viewing! It would give them a place to see how aquatic life acts, feeds, and lives. They also would have the experience of managing the care of fish and building the responsibility and dedication that goes along with its maintenance.

First graders love having different jobs around the classroom so being able to feed fish, help clean out the tank, and of course name the fish will give them ownership and will be very exciting!
