My students are eager to learn and gain as much as they can from the world around them. These enthusiastic learners can see and learn about our world from a different perspective while working with others from many cultures and abilities.
It is my goal to give my students opportunities to experience as many learning moments as possible within our school and to allow them the opportunities to take their learning further by making connections with what they have learned in the classroom.
My school is a STEM certified school with the majority of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. About 37% of our students are ESOL (English as a Second Language) coming from many different countries where English in the home is a second language being learned here at school. They are curious and creative with a variety of learning abilities; from learning disabled, hearing impaired, speech disabilities, and below grade level to above grade level abilities. The children are thrilled to explore the STEAM challenges presented to them in all subject areas.
My Project
My students need to become learners of engineering with materials that allow for the use of creative critical thinking materials. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. They are eager to learn and gain as much as they can from those around them.
My students are enthralled when they try new ideas already taught or new standards being introduced and make the real world come to life.
Our school is fully engaged in the STEM program and infusing Art in our curriculum as well to become a STEAM school. We are continuing to form connections while encouraging students to share their new knowledge across disciplines. My students will become critical thinkers, problem solvers and gain a sense of creativity as they discover, engineer, plan, and use the Magna-Tiles at the Building Learning Center during our daily rotations.
