Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
GPA is a K-6 Dual Language Elementary housed within IPS. Our school was created through the Innovation School partnership with IPS. The mission of GPA K-6 is to provide tomorrow’s leaders and global citizens with the highest quality of instruction through language immersion and experiential learning that is culturally relevant. In a highly engaging and nurturing environment, native English speakers and native Spanish speakers will learn to speak, read, and write proficiently in both languages. We serve over 600 students in grades Pre-K to 6.
My Project
When our young ladies feel secure about their ability to access and use hygiene products, they can better focus on instruction and learning goals.
This is an effort to provide students who may not otherwise have access to personal hygiene products what they need in a way that does not stigmatize them and is seen as a innate part of having a healthy body.
The provision of personal care supplies assures students that no matter what they may be experiencing in other environments, they can come to school and be able to care for their needs. This promotes health and helps students learn self care.
