I teach in at a Title 1 school with a high poverty rate. Many of our children receive free and reduced lunches. We have law enforcement and military families we service as well. We offer gifted and talented as well as inclusion classrooms.
My students need a growth mindset that they are capable of achieving anything as long as they believe in themselves.
They will not stop until they are proud! I want to teach my students that all great accomplishments were once considered impossible!
My Project
Guided math is needed in our classroom to reach and engage all learners which includes myself as the educator. Guided math allows for differentiated instruction to occur in many ways that include small group activities with various prepared games as well as independent work stations. These activities may include: paper pencil review, student task cards, dice/card games, and also through the use of technology. It is also beneficial for students to experience math through literature. Reading allows students the opportunity to make real life connections to themselves as well as the world around them. You can not meet the needs of every child through a whole group lesson. Guided math helps students feel safe, supported, and successful! This project will help create magnificent math minds for years to come in my classroom!
