I teach at a title 1 school. My amazing students come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Due to the pandemic they have seen a lot of changes in their school routines. Over the past couple of years they have worked online, in class, and in a hybrid situation. Despite these challenges they are determined to meet their goals and accomplish great things.

My Project
One of my students' favorite subjects is art. By combining math and art students gain practice with core math skills in a hands on, immersive way. Due to the pandemic there have been long sections of time that students did not have the ability to delve into math and art much as they would of otherwise been able to. While creating food containers they practice area and perimeter. Through creating geometric art students will gain practice with angles and degrees.
I love seeing how my students capabilities grow in cross-curricular core standards through science.
Math applications through art reinforce what they are learning in a way that will help students realize that math is used in everyday life.
