My students need Magformers and other magnetic building supplies so that they can creatively challenge their minds to build elaborate structures during purposeful play time.
We are an economically disadvantaged school in Virginia in which 100% our students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are also a federally designated Title I school. Most of the students in my classroom come from lower income households with only one parent.
Regardless of their backgrounds, they all have an unending thirst for knowledge and crave hands-on learning activities, to which they have little exposure.
They come into school each day excited and ready to learn. My goal as a kindergarten teacher is for my students to walk out each day loving school and excited to come back the next day!
My Project
The students in my classroom love to build structures and other things during our purposeful play time! In our classroom we have a small supply of magnetic building blocks, however we are limited by what they are able to create due to the lack of magnetic blocks.
My students are creative little engineers who would love to have more magnetic blocks so that they are able to to build extravagant designs.
The Magformers and other magnetic blocks would be a wonderful addition to our purposeful play time. This would give my students ample opportunities to cooperate with one another and design some really cool structures!
