My students need this bundle of magazine subscriptions including Be Your Own You, Boys' Life, Girls' Life, Health, and Clean Eating to spark reading interest in students who seek to be the best they can be.
We are a public middle school in a rural agrarian community in the Southeastern United States.
As part of our focus on using personal interests, hobbies, and lifestyles to educate our students to compete in a 21st century global world, we must integrate literacy into everything we do.
That's why we want to bring a selection of magazines that aim to build self-esteem and increase awareness of better health for our middle school readers- one of our goals is to create more frequent readers by providing texts that reflect their interests and hobbies.
This project will allow up to 800 student readers to benefit from the reading of the magazines requested in this subscription package.
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning by allowing them the opportunity to participate in reading a magazine that appeals to their hobbies, interests, and lifestyles as they seek to improve their health and self-esteem.
By having monthly magazine subscriptions available to all students through our Media Center, our students who seek to improve their health and self-esteem will look forward to reading these magazines on a regular basis and incorporate literacy into their quest to improve their lives.
Both avid readers and reluctant readers will anticipate the joy of a magazine subscription that appeals to their interests (and many of our teachers will share the excitement as well)!
