"Can we read it again?" is the phrase I hear every time I finish reading a book aloud to my Kindergarten students. They are eager learners who are so excited to learn new things, especially when it comes to things that directly relate to themselves such as their feelings, and having the confidence to pursue their dreams.
If these children are given the opportunity to explore Mindfulness and develop a Growth Mindset in themselves, they will be unstoppable in life!
Mindfulness will help my students understand their feelings and how to deal with them, along with creating a sense of calm inside themselves. This skill will help them to better deal with everyday situations. It is also important for these children to develop a Growth Mindset, which will help them to embrace challenges, learn from feedback, and put forth their best effort.
My Kindergarten students' brains are like sponges right now, soaking up all the information they are exposed to. This makes it the perfect time to introduce Mindfulness and Growth Mindset, so they can reap the benefits for a lifetime!
My Project
My students and I would love to have age-appropriate books to enjoy together.
Since children are naturally drawn to books, this makes them the perfect resource to utilize when teaching the important topics of Mindfulness and Growth Mindset.
The books we have chosen tell stories that my students will be able to relate to, and can make connections to their own lives. A few of the books also include activities for the students to participate in while practicing being mindful. I strongly believe that by teaching these skills to children, we can dramatically change the trajectory of some of their lives to a more positive outcome. They will be more in touch with themselves, and also become more aware of how to interact with the people around them and become a positive role model in society.
