Musical, creative, inquisitive, and energetic: these are all words that describe my students. They love to sing, move, play instruments, and learn in hands-on ways. They love to use drums, Orff instruments, and ukuleles in our music room, and they love to perform.
Around 25% of our students come from military families, and this brings them their own unique set of challenges.
Our school is a true community school with all students living in a tight suburban area of around 2.5 miles in radius. This allows students to participate in many extracurricular activities, and we try to offer them many varied opportunities to do so.
My Project
Sometimes there are just odds and ends that, while not absolutely essential, make the classroom function so much more smoothly. These items are part of those things.
I am requesting peel and stick magnets to create manipulative music rhythm cards that can be displayed on the whiteboard.
I also need batteries to replace in certain items we use regularly in class, and storage containers to stow small instruments.
These items will help our classroom to run more efficiently, which will increase the learning of students. We only have 30 minutes for music, so anything that allows us to maximize that time is a valuable resource.
