My students need these jumbo magnetic building tiles because creating and building their own inventions will allow them to work on their fine and gross motor movement while exploring their developing creativity.
Our school is located in Fountain Square in an inner city, public school which has a very close community with lots of parental support. The mission of my school family is to provide a safe, caring, positive environment where students are taught to be readers, writers and problem solvers so they will be prepared to be the leaders of tomorrow. We strive for superior performance, outstanding quality, and academic excellence. Our students have a desire for knowledge and learning; the character, qualities, or attainment of a scholar. They have a high level of regard and consideration for oneself and others; i.e. in conduct, dress, communication and deference. Most of all their mental and moral strength, in the face of danger and difficult situations will always prevail.
For my students play is serious learning!
Managing twenty children who are age four is no easy task, but each and every student of mine is a blessing! My students are outgoing, creative, and ready to explore the world around us each day. Their positive attitudes and willingness to learn has made this year an exciting adventure.
My Project
We will be using the jumbo magna-tiles to build sets for the plays we put on, to build a rocket during our space unit, and to let the student invent various play structures of their own design. The possibilities are endless! Having the see thru tiles will allow students to feel like they have privacy, while teachers are still able to monitor them.
Working with the tiles will help our students develop the fine motor and gross motor movement they need to be successful in life and school.
Students working together will help build the social and emotional skills necessary to be valued members of our community. One of our big science themes in preschool is magnetism. These big tiles will allow us to physically see the power of magnets demonstrated.
We currently have a small set of the tiles that were given to us this year and the students race to be the one to play with them each day. Having these big sets will allow more students to get in on this stimulating experience which will help these young brains develop and grow!
