My Students

My students are awesome kids! They are hard working kids who love hands on experiences. My students attend a small school where they know almost every child in their current grade.

My goal is for my students to love science!

I want them to enjoy coming to my class each day because they know they are going to enjoy and benefit from the lessons I will teach them.

Sixth grade students are amazing. They are going through so many changes. They are at the age when they begin to truly question what they want to be when they grow up, and I would love to foster their love of science.

My Project

Hands on materials create meaningful learning in the classroom. I have found that students understand the material being taught better when they can build and test materials with a group of students.

I would love to have my student build electromagnets with their group so they can have a true understanding of what an electromagnet is and how it works.

Building an electromagnet will help students understand the materials needed to create an electromagnet. They will also be able to test the strength of the electromagnet in a lab setting. Extra batteries included in my project will allow all students to fairly test the strength of the electromagnet they build.
