Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from low-income families. They are sweet, energetic, and eager to learn! These students come from a diverse background. Some of them are bilingual or learning English as a Second Language, and all of them have diverse needs.
They love to learn and get excited about coming to school.
My school is a positive and energetic learning community with students who love school. I want to provide all of my students with materials that are best suited for their needs. Our public school bends over backward to help our students as much as possible, but budget cuts have severely cut funding, and I just can't afford to give them everything they need.
My Project
My students are back to virtual learning. They are in need of hands on materials to help them learn their sight words.
Sight words are one of the most important building blocks of reading.
In second grade we work to master sight words. They need to learn to write the letters and to use materials such as magnetic letters to practice building and reading sight words.
My students need lots of practice and hands-on experiences to learn all the wonders of the alphabet. When my students learn the alphabet and start to be able to read, a whole new world of possibilities opens up to them.
