Magnetic Math Supplies to Show Our Work During Distant Learning
Help me give my students magnetic Ten-Frames boards and magnetic number bond boards so that they can successfully show their work during distant learning
The students in my class are full of energy, wonder, and enthusiasm. Each student has their own special needs which make my classroom extremely diverse. They come from various diverse cultures, speak various languages, and many of their families are struggling economically.
They are a community of learners where everyone is valued, where everyone has a voice, where everyone is a self-manager, and where everyone is respected and welcomed.
The school they attend is in the state of Washington. It is culturally diverse with over 70% of the student population qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, and over 30% are English language learners.
My Project
We are in our second week of distant learning. It has been really hard to see how my first graders are figuring out their math. I was able to give all my students some math manipulatives, but I am not able to see how they are using them due to delivering instruction remotely.
Using magnetic number bond boards and magnetic Ten-Frames boards will allow my first graders to show their thinking.
They will be able to pick up their magnetic board and show it to the class via their computer. This will allow me to know which child is understanding a concept or which may need some extra help.
