This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is a bright and active group of five and six-year-old children. They love to create and tell stories. They love to read and be read to. They are quickly learning to work together, which is a vital skill in our world. My children work in small groups and independently throughout the day.
We grow in all areas by practicing and playing together.
Writing throughout the day in science, social studies, math, and even in art helps us in so many ways. We get noisy, but we learn so much together. We need supplies to grow as readers, writers, and illustrators. We need to show the colors of our ideas. There is so much to learn.
My Project
Kindergarten students struggle with fine motor control. We need magnetic pieces to allow us a little flexibility in our gentle handling of materials. We bump into our own work and that of those around us. When we get to work with magnets, we yell at each other a lot less.
We are learning about everything in this amazing world.
With these magnetic building materials, we will be able to see the geometric shapes that are all around us. We will get to make animals from pattern blocks, then move into three dimensions as we grow. These magnetic builders will stretch our imaginations and scientific knowledge together.
