Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects. They come to school each day ready to learn new things!
Each child in my classroom loves to learn, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.
We incorporate a variety of learning strategies and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!
Our school is located on the west side of Indianapolis, Indiana. Many of the students in our school are Hispanic and African American and come from low-income households.
My Project
My students are so creative when they are building. They love using our current MagnaTiles for towers, racetracks, bridges, and houses. Our MagnaTiles are one of the top center choices in the classrooms.
Having more MagnaTiles sets will allow my students to explore how magnets connect to each other to build various types of buildings.
These MagnaTiles sets will teach my students problem solving skills, patterns, and shape recognition. They will also enhance their creativity, persistence, building skills, fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. The storage bin will be used to store the MagnaTiles when students are done using them.
