Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We strive to support our students to become leaders of the future. Our school is an public setting for regular and special education students. Every child has strengths; and we need to exemplify them to show how extraordinary these children are. They all care about their next steps leading toward their future. We are here to help support and guide them towards their goals.
My students are working towards improving their academics and behaviors..
My students need access to a space where they feel welcomed to take breaks in order to get back to class and thrive.
My Project
These materials and supplies will help my students during crisis, or those in need of a mental moment: a break from the classroom. I want to provide my students with a safe space to provide de-escalation activities; and thus help my students learn how to improve self-regulation skills.
By integrating a meditation cushion, I can provide my students with a few minutes of peace to collect their thoughts and regulate their state of mind.
In addition, the diffusers will become valuable resources to provide students with a mindufulness space to relax and further support the students well-being. As a social worker, I believe in providing students with mindfulness techniques and mental moments in order for them to thrive. We as staff need to be cognizant of students' needs to help our students be the best that they can be!
