My students need 1 set of vocabulary activities and 1 reading comprehension library to help them comprehend better.
Our school houses students from Pre-K through Fourth grade in a rural, Title One school. Funding for our school is limited due to strictly residential taxing.
Approximately 67% of our students come from a low social-economic background.
With limited funding, needs for individual classrooms is often not received unless proceeds are provided by me. My students have a very diverse level of reading. Materials are not readily available. With the help of these materials, my students will comprehend better. Comprehension is the key to better understanding and learning.
I am requesting 1 set of vocabulary activities and 1 reading comprehension library. With these resources, my students would be able to improve their comprehension and fluency. This would allow them to be able to work independently or small groups while I am instructing lower level students. In obtaining these materials my students would do better in comprehension questions. This would allow me to raise the bar for them and challenge them with more rigorous type questions. Without comprehension my students struggle in every area (math, science, social studies). I think this is a necessity for my classroom. It would improve all reading levels.
By choosing to help my students, you would be providing them with essential materials to promote their education and lives.
The impact will benefits students not only in this school year, but years to come. This impact will help them most in Reading but it will improve all areas of learning (math, science, social studies). The impact will be huge.
