Help me give my students magazine resources that will allow them to make inferences, connections, and most importantly to help us learn how to cite evidence from a text!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school in SC. One hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and free lunch. We are high poverty and unfortunately, many of our students face struggles that we may never face in our life time. My students are fabulous. I have my challenging few, but overall, we are making gains. This year holds promising dreams for my kiddos!
Fifth grade is a challenge, but to be able to build upon their knowledge and grow them as learners has been the most rewarding part!
I am planning reading this year and I am constantly searching for resources that I can add to my classroom that will light a fire under my kids! Help me to add to the resources in my class!
My Project
As a new fifth grade teacher, I am constantly trying to find resources to add to my library and classroom. I also plan reading and the number one thing I've learned with students is that it has to be engaging! Stories, magazines, read alouds, and other forms of literature have to entice students so they will pick it up and read it!
Resources, such as magazines are often over looked in the classroom and it is my goal to bring the magic from magazines!
I would love to use the magazines as a tool for citing evidence because they are short passages and enticing stories for kids!
