Help me give my students the Fur Real Friends Magical Unicorn to help with creative writing, imagination and also to help us learn to care for a pet as we are not allowed to have a real pet.
We are the second largest school in our district that directly impacts our military community along with low income and ESE communities. We house grades PK-8 in our buildings, including the second-highest population of special needs children, ESE children, and children who have a father, mother, or both parents in the military. This makes us a population that serves military families and military students. Our school directly impacts the military community it is built around. These demographics make our school a very diverse population.
Our school is also a Title I school, which means the majority of our students receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.
Some are displaced while others are homeless. To give these students the opportunities they all deserve, we must provide a quality learning environment. Being Title I, those essentials are few and far between. Our students are bright, they are resilient, and they strive to be the best they know how to be, but they also want to be more than that. It is our responsibility to make those things happen to them no matter what it takes.
My Project
A child can easily develop a connection with a pet who loves and needs to be nurtured, hugged, groomed, fed and appreciated, even if it's not real. As classrooms can no longer have a real pet due to children's allergies, Fur Real Friends are the closest that we can get to teaching how to care for another living creature. The batteries would keep our Fur Real Friend working for quite a long time! These Fur Real interactive pets have so many educational and comforting values for kids. Best friends come in all forms.
Fur Real Friends are also a fabulous educational toy for special needs children who need a friend to help calm anxiety or create security in those uncertain times.
This magical unicorn would foster not only friendships but also help with creative writing and helping spur imagination.
A Fur Real Friend would be a brilliant addition to our classroom in so many ways.
My children would love to have this educational and interactive toy in our classroom. Most of my children will never have a pet due to the financial needs that come with owning one. A Fur Real Friend would give us an opportunity for all of our children to grow in a multitude of ways along with teaching us responsibility.
