Have you ever been in a very long meeting? You start to feel your mind drifting in all different directions? You might take out your cell phone, doodle, or leave the room for a few minutes. A bounce band is just what you need to help you through a tough meeting.
Now imagine being a second grader in a classroom full of enriched learning going on and feeling like you cannot concentrate.
Students in the classroom may use the restroom frequently, walk around the room, or disturb others in the room. The teacher gives multiple brain breaks and numerous re-directions but it just is not enough. All of these students are missing out on important instruction, learning opportunities, and distracting others. To help with this growing problem, I need twenty-five wiggle or bounce bands for desks.
A bounce band has been proven to help students who have ADHD, test anxiety, learning disabilities, social anxiety, Asperger’s Syndrome, Restless syndrome, or students who simply need movement during the day. The band is very simple you place it on the bottom of each student’s chair. The student places his or her legs behind the black band. They can kick the band, stand on the band, keep their feet behind their band, etc.
My Project
I had the opportunity to borrow two bounce bands from another teacher. I choose to try it on two students that were having trouble in the classroom. My results were remarkable. Before the bands my two students were crawling on the floor, hanging off his or her chair, pacing around the room, and distracting others. When they had the band on the bottom of his or her chair; the students were sitting at their desk, completing work, and truly learning. Your donation would insure that all my students are learning to his or her best ability with fewer distractions.
My class consists of twenty- four smart and energetic second grade students. I have nine girls in my class and fifteen boys. I have two talented and gifted students, five English as a Second Language Students, two students on an Individualized Education Plans, three students in Title One Reading, two students in reading tutoring, and one student from a different country.
Your donation will purchase twenty-five bounce bands which will result in more students on task, higher test scores, and focused students.
These bands let students burn off energy while in the sitting position without making any noise. This amazing product will be used for many years by a lot of students. Thank you for considering to help me provide a positive learning environment with fever distractions.
