Help me give my students fun books that tie into the reading curriculum so they can explore topics they've touched on in class expanding their knowledge where their interest lies.
We are a Title I school in an economically-challenged area, and our students love to come to the library eager to see what new books are available.
Every study shows that the more students read, the better they do in school and the more successful they are.
Having sought-after books in the library is how I boost my students' academic success and personal achievement, but I want to see the gleam in their eyes when they are holding the gift of reading that they get to keep this holiday season!
My Project
Magic Tree House books do an excellent job of engaging readers while transporting them to a different place and/or time. Our reading curriculum incorporates topics about historical periods and science that kids are being introduced to but some kids would love to be able to take it further than is possible in class.
Our 3rd grade is getting ready to explore Ancient Rome so the Magic Tree House book - "Warriors in Winter" - would be a perfect tie-in especially with the fact-checker as a partner text.
The "magic" of these books is that they make learning fun and seamless, encouraging kids to keep reading and branching out to new times and places.
