Can you imagine seeing students playing outside or walking to school in the morning while wearing just a simple long-sleeve shirt during the winter? Unfortunately, this is a common sight in my classroom and we need your help getting these life essentials.
My students face so many challenges, but they realize that education is the vehicle to drive them towards a more promising future.
They come to school with more burdens than any fifth grader should ever have to deal with. My goal is to provide a place where they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. As Nelson Mandela said, "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." We encourage the students to dream and reassure the students that education what is going to provide opportunities for success! This success is achieved when students feel safe and cared for.
I truly enjoy teaching reading! Many studies have shown just how important reading is for our students. Reading builds skills that they will take with them even beyond school. As the children entered my room and we began reading on day one, I noticed that many of my books were picked up and then set back on the shelf. The books on my shelf were passed on from former teachers and although we're thankful, many of the kids aren't interested in these books, but my students LOVE Magic Tree House books. The students are asking for these books in our classroom and school. Books are what they really want and I hope they never lose that desire! I pray that you would find it in your heart to help support us.
Thank you for considering adding these materials to our reading center and classroom library.
My students love to read. We are hopeful you will assist us in bringing these great books to our classroom soon!
