More than half of students from low‑income households

My students need a warm, comfortable rug, to sit on for Shared Reading and Partner Reading.
My students have to sit on the hard, cold floor during our Shared Reading time and while reading with a partner. I try to make it fun by calling it our "Magic Carpet" but some just don't buy it!
Our students are from many different cultures and there are currently six different languages spoken within our classroom.
Many students are from low income, struggling families that value education and just want the best for their children. I feel that they deserve the same opportunities other children in higher income districts are provided with.
A warm, comfortable carpet would really help my students focus on what they need to learn. In the wintertime, the floor is so cold they don't want to sit, and I can't blame them. Shared Reading and Partner Reading would be so much more enjoyable on a REAL "Magic Carpet".
Creating a warm and inviting area for students to learn will help them in so many ways.
If my students' basic needs are met, they will have a higher chance of succeeding by engaging in their learning activities.
