Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the music teacher at my school. I get to see my kids at their most creative stage! They are always eager to learn something new, play a new instrument or share what they have accomplished. Their enthusiasm for music keeps me charged and always looking for new things to challenge them with.
My school is Title 1 and that basically means many of my kids don't enjoy the same opportunities that other students in my district take for granted.
I see my job as a way to open those opportunities for the kids at my school. Music is full of experiences and benefits that everyone deserves!
My Project
A clean, instructional carpet will both invite students to sit and be comfortable as well as reinforce what they are learning. The carpet I chose is large and attractive. It has music symbols on the edges and features a Treble and Bass Clef Staff.
The regular traffic in the music room is about 200 students a day.
We sit on it to play instruments, sing, play musical games, and watch instructional videos. It not only needs to look nice, but be useful.
The carpet will be used for children from PreK - 8th grade and should be appealing for all ages. The deep blue color will help it hold up under heavy usage. And the music symbols used will help it be a useful teaching tool.
My kids will love coming into the music room and creating their own magic on this beautiful carpet!
