"Inclusion is not simply about physical proximity, it is about intentionally planning for the success of all students." When you walk into my classroom daily, there is a sense of community and a sense of family. Each individual child has their own place to flourish among their peers.
My students are learning and growing every day together, despite growing up in different neighborhoods with different backgrounds.
The amount of maturity and pride these children show in their educational life amazes me daily. They truly deserve the best, and most, out of their educational experience.
Being part of a charter school brings together many differences. I can only hope and work towards my children learning and enjoying their time here as much as I do.
My Project
Being an urban school setting, my students start their day best by meeting to discuss what makes them who they are daily. We hold morning meeting as a class to talk about our day to day lives, which helps to build strong relationships between the students. Having this carpet will allow for my students to sit in a space that is large enough to hold all 28 of my students at one time, and create a welcoming experience for them to join in discussion. This carpet will also allow for floor work in centers to be possible. The students will be able to spread out and work together to complete tasks comfortably so they can focus on the project, and not the seating arrangement. This will also provide my students with a warm area to read books in the classroom during reading time. Working together is an important part of student growth and development, this will provide them an area in the room to do so!
