Help my students feel at home on the carpet! My students and I like to reflect on our lessons and how our day is going as a whole group on our carpet. However, the carpet in my room is to small for everyone to fit. Some students have to sit off to the side and we want everyone all together!
I have an amazing group of Kindergarten students.
We are located in West Georgia and during these hot summer months we spend a lot of our time indoors, which means a lot of time on the carpet! My students are very eager to learn and enter the room filled with excitement each day! This makes my job and my first year as a teacher so much easier! We like to end each day by going around the room and allowing everyone to share their favorite part of the day. This would be so much easier if we had a bigger carpet that gave everyone a designated spot to sit! I feel so honored to be their teacher and I cannot wait to see what I am going to learn from them!
My Project
With this new carpet our whole group time will become more comfortable, which will allow us to spend more time working together as an entire class. Each student will have their very own spot which will make them feel like a part of the class. As the teacher it will serve as another reward system because I can award the separate rows on the carpet for their good behavior. As a class some of our best thinking gets done in our gathering area, and it will be nice if we can all comfortably fit in that space together.
This carpet is so vital to our classroom because it will not only become an additional reward system in the classroom, but it will give each child another spot of ownership.
It will also give the entire class an area where we can come together and everyone will have their own space, people will not have to squeeze together or be off to the side, and we can work as a team.
