I teach at a Title One school.

The students at my school are extremely varied with the resources available to them. Many students have never been outside of our state or lived anywhere else. In the same way, most students have never thought about our world or galaxy.

My Project

Our school's entire fourth grade will come to my room for our moon science unit. How great would it be for kids to SEE one of the more difficult concepts on their first day: that the earth revolves around our sun and in the same way, our moon revolves around the earth. Unfortunately, there isn't time devoted to space study. Our standard only specifies the moon. For many students, science (and space specifically), may be their favorite subject. This carpet would be a small way to tie in such an awesome study!

I want my students to understand our world is magnificent!

My desire is for my students to know how big and awe-inspiring our universe is, but at the same time how THEY are even more valuable than the massive universe.
