Help me give my students a range of diversity books! I want my students to hear, see, relate and learn about the evolving world around us and within our classroom.
William Butler Yates shares "education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire". I've grown to love this inspirational saying and cannot wait to bring this energy into my classroom as a first year teacher; lighting the fire in each of my student's hearts for reading. As a dual language classroom, my students are amazingly learning content in TWO languages; Spanish and English and gracefully immersing themselves into two different worlds filled with books! Our students come from all ranges of socioeconomic backgrounds and need to be prepared for the diverse world in front of them!
My Project
These books will make a difference in my students' learning by allowing students to participate, relate to, and feel included in our virtual read alouds! When we hopefully return to the classroom, my students will have the opportunity to choose what book they wish to immerse into during independent reading time!
Students can share with the class what the story meant to them and how important it is to learn about people and the world around us.
Students will be closer to understanding the importance of culture and embracing diversity!
