Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders are very excited learners! As an International Baccalaureate School, as well as an arts school, we are always learning through inquiry and the arts. My students are best able to learn when we make connections across academic disciplines. A typical day in my class will involve lessons that spark creativity and spur the student to take action. I am so very fortunate to have a variety of learners and learning styles in my classroom, and I believe all students should have access to high-quality curriculum and materials.

Throughout the day, my students work collaboratively with their peers on units of inquiry that incorporate literature, science, and the arts.

My students love to learn and come to school excited every day.

My Project

My students love to learn about social studies and science. Through Scholastic News and Scholastic Science Spin, they will be able to engage with the world around them!

These colorful and engaging magazines will help motivate my emerging readers!

As a first grade teacher, I am always looking for things that spark my student's interest and will help them become better readers. These magazines are highly interesting for young students, and I know they would be very excited to be able to read these. Although my students have some online access to science and social studies topics of interest, they are not able to take those things home with them. Through magazines, my students are able to take home their learning and share it with their families. Kids really bloom when they are able to be "experts" and teach their family something new!
