We are a diverse group. We have many different socioeconomic and academic levels. I want them to have a "thirst for knowledge" and to have easy access to what they need. Students come to the library for many different purposes besides checking out books. They also visit to research information, access programs on tablets, and create with technology. They also are able to have access to a Makerspace. Our school services kids Pre K-6th grade and provides academics, a hardworking group of teachers and a safe learning environment. My elementary provides tremendous support for the teachers but most importantly, for the students and their families.
I want to offer magazines to our students to give them another option to read. Magazines are great for nonfiction reading too! Magazines offer short articles with lots of visual support from pictures and aren't as intimidating as books for especially for struggling readers.
I need to offer different opportunities for kids to read in the library I want kids to be excited to read and one way that I can do this is to not only offer books but to offer magazines!
I can promote literacy and offer something brand new for the students each month with magazine subscriptions!
