My students need 10 subscriptions each to Science World, Scholastic Scope, and Scholastic MATH magazines to have access to different contents such as science and math.
Every morning starts with reading, so, lend a hand to get some magazines for our classroom this year! The more exposure these students get to math and science outside a textbook, the better. Help them get started making awesome connections to the real world and classroom learning!
My amazing students are literally from around the world.
This at-risk population of students is one of the most diverse in our area. We have about 30% black, 30% white, 20% Hispanic, and another 20% English Language Learners. Every day is inspiring to watch these students work together and support one another. They will be in 7th grade this year, and they are really good about reading. They are a hard working, kind, and motivated group of students who will appreciate this gift.
My Project
I am requesting 10 subscriptions each to Science World, Scholastic Scope, and Scholastic MATH magazine to have access to different contents such as science and math. These Scholastic Magazines will be used for a variety of purposes. The students will use them during Sustained Silent Reading time. They will also be used for summary reports for their Outside Science Learning Logs. Our language arts teacher will also be able to help students read and write within their content using these articles. Since the topics are current, they will pique the students' interest and engage them in reading. They will get read until they are worn out!
Many of our students come from limited resources and school funding is low.
Providing these magazines will help the students have access to math, science, and language arts topics specifically geared to their interest and reading level. They may even inspire a future career in one of these areas! Thanks so much for considering a donation!
