My Students

My Byrd Flock is a 2nd grade class of learners, encouragers, dreamers, and leaders. Each day their energy and joy for life inspires me as a teacher to give my all with a happy heart. They love hands on learning, books, and creative ways to engage in learning. My class is an inclusion class, so we are a beautiful melting pot of learners. Everyday is a day to make memories. Our mission statement is to try new things, be kind, and never give up.

My Project

My students need to experience texts outside of technology. These resources will help us do that. Flipping through a magazine is something that children nowadays don't really do and I would love to open their eyes to it. The colorful pictures, articles, and fun chatter that will happen because of these magazines will be so refreshing in our Byrd Flock.

The ability to provide them with fiction and non-fiction texts will open their eyes to the world around them.

Like Dr. Suess says, "The more you read, the more you know, the more you learn, the more places you will go".
