My students need Chromebooks to become more tech savvy in the 21st Century. Second Grade is a transitional year and in order to prepare my students for third grade, they need technology tools to assist instruction.

My Students

My school has about 572 students in grades kindergarten - fourth. 53% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. We are a Title 1 School with students from different economic backgrounds.

We are a STEAM Magnet School and I am always striving to implement technology and hands-on activities in my classroom.

My students always show their excitement when we work to solve real-life problems and complete hands-on activities. My goal is to continue to inspire my class to be critical thinkers.

My Project

There is always a need for the use of Chromebooks in my classroom. These small but mighty laptops bolster students' computer skills while they research, collaborate, learn and create. Chromebooks allow me as the teacher to personalized learning for individual students through Google Classroom assignments, coding challenges, and e-portfolios. My current problem is that I have more students than Chromebooks and I am limited with the amount of opportunities to implement technology.

More Chromebooks equal more opportunities for my students to work on individualized assignments at their pace as they increase their digital literacy.

More Chromebooks in the classroom, also equates to increased productivity for my students and we are able to get more tasks completed in our day.
