My Middle School students are learning about Physical Science standards, particularly mass and density. We need good Balances for use in the classroom to help them complete their labs. We need these for the Middle School Science classes, 6th through 8th grades.
My students come from a very low income, high poverty rate area.
Ninety-seven percent of the students at my school are on free or reduced meals. Most of them have never been exposed to a true science curriculum, with all the materials and supplies that that would imply. They really want to learn about science, but the lack of scientific tools is making it hard for them.
My Project
By having real scientific tools, the students will be conducting labs with the tools that actual scientists use and getting valid results. This will allow them to have good data and be able to draw conclusions that they can replicate and share with other students and classes.
By getting true scientific tools that are used by scientists in actual life, they will experience science the way should be, instead of just reading about it.
Unlike most classes in school, the students can replicate experiments done by other classes and scientists, and perform them how they would be done in the real world.
