This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a second grade teacher wanting to instill a love of math in all of my students. I am hoping to give my students the opportunity to love math by having a bigger classroom set of math tools and manipulatives. I believe that the math tools will turn mathematics into something fun and engaging, therefore my students will want to use more manipulatives often to include both at school and at home as well as with a group of peers and independently.

My Project

I am wanting to make math more fun for my students so that they want to do math instead of feeling like they have to do math. I feel that the math centers will help them to master concepts by working independently and in small groups. The ten frames will help the students to master number sense. The wipe boards are going to allow the students to work with a partner on different concepts to help them master important concepts to allow them to be more successful in life. I believe that these resources will help my students to master the necessary concepts for this grade level.
