Financial literacy is the most necessary subject that we can teach our students! Our students are eager to be successful and are the the driving the force in creating projects that show their learning. This year we will combine financial literacy and moviemaking.
The K-5 students are smart, diverse, and motivated!
They love learning, creating, inventing, and doing new things. They love being active participants in the education process. This is a take charge group of kiddos who are ready and able to do exciting and dynamic projects.
My Project
I will be using the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Econ Explorer's Teacher's guide to lead the lessons in Financial literacy.
The students write, direct, and produce their own financial literacy Public Service Announcement videos. They have recently learned how to do chroma key and are thrilled to be able to add any background to their green screen videos.
They will use the MacBook Pro to continue with their green screen movie making as they learn important lessons in financial literacy. We have a computer lab, but at times it is not convenient for them to get in there.
Student supplemental sources are:
-The Mint
-Choosing the Perfect Pet
-Booker T Washington
-The Crow and the Pitcher
-Forecasting Econ.
Giving students the tools they need to teach financial literacy means that they will be helping others to change their entire futures!!
How's that for an impact?! The student have become independent learners and this computer will help them to continue on their movie making journey AND teach other students how to build solid, successful futures in a fun and engaging way!
