Help me give my students updated technology for research, creating projects using digital tools, reading, and writing with a MacBook Pro 13.3'Laptop - Apple M1 chip - 8GB Memory - 512GB SSD.
Teaching and learning is a never-ending process for all children. As a teacher in a Title 1 School, where so many of our children come from immigrant families, education is ever so important and a great responsibility. We give our children a sense of the world around them and open doors to more learning and curiosities. We learn to adapt to all that comes towards us.
Teaching has always been and continues to be such a joy for me but it is even more gratifying that I am teaching in the same exact school I once attended myself.
"That's amazing!" is probably one of the most gratifying things you can hear when students really grasp a concept you've been working on together for days, weeks, or even months. Their eyes light up. Their questions start to build. Many of the children from our school come from low-income families. They don't necessarily have the tools they need to support their learning and curiosities. I hope that I can inspire them every day to nurture their ideas and motivate them to achieve more than they thought.
My Project
With the challenges we face during the pandemic, many teachers in New York City have taken on the hybrid role of teaching in-person and remotely, including myself. Not only are we teaching live online with students via Zoom or Google Meet, but we are also creating new materials daily by recording instruction and developing new templates for students to use every day. Having a new laptop will not only help me create the detailed lessons and plans to be presented and utilized but also when we return to the classroom in the future, it is my hope that students will also be able to use this Macbook Pro to create digital presentations and utilize it as another resource, especially for students who are more adept with Apple products.
The donations to this project will help me have an updated technology plan and create my lessons my students need, whether they participate in hybrid learning or remote learning.
Students will be able to access the latest tools digitally. There is so much untapped potential for students to utilize technology in creative ways in this day and age. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
